Alice Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, revealed during a Senate panel investigation that she boarded a white yacht with a ‘wings’ design sticker at a port in Metro Manila shortly before 10 pm, sometime in July.
After months of eluding the Senate, Alice Guo returned to face the senators on Monday, September 9. During the investigation, senators pressed the dismissed Bamban Mayor on the specifics of her departure from the country. Guo detailed that she boarded the yacht in Metro Manila, and after spending a few hours on it, she transferred to a larger ship. Her mobile phone, along with those of her companions, was surrendered to a foreign Asian woman as part of an arrangement for her safety.
Guo, along with her supposed siblings — Shiela and Wesley — was confined to a room with a small window for three to five days while on the larger ship. They were not allowed to leave the room, and Guo admitted to having second thoughts about her escape due to the frightening circumstances. ‘When we were on the big ship, honestly, if I could have turned back, I would have. It was really scary,’ she said.
After spending several days on the larger ship, they took a small boat to Malaysia, a journey that lasted several hours. Guo did not provide further details about her travels thereafter. However, separate reports indicate that her journey continued from Malaysia to Singapore, and then to Indonesia, where she was arrested on September 4.
Guo claimed that she did not spend any money on the trip and declined to reveal publicly who facilitated her escape, choosing instead to write the individual’s name on a piece of paper and show it to the senators.
The Senate investigation into Alice Guo’s escape continues to unfold, with many details remaining unclear. However, her testimony has shed some light on the methods and routes used in her departure from the Philippines.
