Google Meets Gemini AI Your New Note-Taker

Struggling to keep up with meeting notes? Google Meet’s got you covered!

  • Google Meet introduces ‘Take notes for me,’ powered by Gemini AI.
  • Follows announcements of other AI-driven features by Google.
  • Available to select paying Google Workspace users starting now.
  • Meeting notes are instantly accessible and saved to Google Drive.

Google Meet is rolling out a new feature called ‘Take notes for me,’ powered by Gemini AI. This exciting update aims to make your meeting experience smoother by automating note-taking.

Announced via a blog post, the feature is available to select paying Google Workspace users. It’s similar to what you might find with Zoom Notes or OtterPilot. With this, AI will generate a report post-meeting.

To activate it, simply click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the Google Meet screen. The icon turns blue to indicate that note-taking is active. You and all the attendees can see the notes in real-time by clicking on the icon.

After the meeting wraps up, a document with all the notes will be attached to the Google Calendar event. The meeting admin will receive an email with a link to access the notes. Additionally, it will be saved in the organizer’s Google Drive.

If recording or transcription is turned on during the meeting, the document will also include a link to those files. However, for the ‘Take notes for me’ feature to function, the meeting must be conducted in spoken English.

This comes after Google’s recent announcement of AI summarization tools for Files and new enhancements for Gmail. Clearly, Google is all-in on leveraging AI to improve productivity tools. As they say, ‘Might just take leave now, hey.’

Trust AI to make your meetings a breeze with Google Meet’s new feature.
