Meta and Spotify might change how you share music on Instagram. Check out these cool new features they’re testing:
- Meta and Spotify are diving deeper into music integration on Instagram.
- You might soon share your Spotify tunes continuously on Instagram Notes!
- Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi found screenshots of this feature.
- This could bring seamless automation to your music-sharing habits.
Meta and Spotify are taking music integration on Instagram to the next level. They’re testing a feature that lets users continuously share what they’re listening to on Spotify through Instagram’s Notes.
The new feature was spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi. He often discovers unreleased features while they’re still in development.
In a snapshot Paluzzi posted on Meta’s Threads, users can see an option to ‘continuously share’ their music from Spotify. This allows for automated sharing, unlike the current method where users select songs from Instagram’s catalog.
If it launches, this would build on last year’s addition that allows sharing 30-second song clips on Instagram Notes. Notes, introduced in 2022, let users share quick updates or statuses above their Instagram inbox.
The song clips feature in Notes has been available worldwide where Instagram has music licensing rights. This partnership with Spotify could mean more consistent content sharing even when users are in another app.
The idea reminisces Spotify’s social networking features. Spotify allows users to connect with Facebook to check what friends are streaming or see real-time streams via its Community feature, which is still in testing.
A possible Meta-Spotify integration was also hinted at by technologist Chris Messina. He noticed Instagram added a ‘SpotifyiOS.framework’ component around the release of version v.338.0, indicating deeper collaboration.
Instagram recently allowed users to add music to their profiles, a feature launched with singer Sabrina Carpenter. Messina theorized that integrating this with Spotify could challenge TikTok’s music discovery dominance.
Meta and Spotify have collaborated before, like the 2021 initiative of a miniplayer on Facebook that streamed Spotify. The companies share common issues with Apple, particularly around in-app payments and privacy features.
While Meta and Spotify didn’t comment, their history and new discoveries hint at exciting possibilities for social music-sharing.
If these features roll out, sharing music on Instagram could become more effortless and enjoyable than ever.
